원조 한류스타로 인기를 누려왔던 안재욱. 그가 뮤지컬 ‘황태자 루돌프’의 루돌프 역으로 대중 곁에 찾아왔다. 그는 1994년 MBC 23기 공채 탤런트로 데뷔한 이래 배우로서 승승장구 했다. 1994년 '천국의 나그네', '짝'을 시작으로 1995년 '호텔', '전쟁과 사랑', 1996년 '그들의 포옹', '자반고등어'에 출연! 이어 1997년에는 '별은 내 가슴에'에 강민 역할을 소화해내며 폭발적인 인기를 누렸다. 특히 이 드라마는 중국으로 수출되며 인기를 끌면서 최초의 한류 드라마로 발돋움했다.

인기와 명예를 먹고 사는 연예인이라는 직업에 슬럼프가 찾아왔을 법도 하지만 강인함과 끝없는 노력으로 2009년 ‘살인마잭’으로 뮤지컬 무대에 10년 만에 복귀, 이를 성공적으로 이끌어내며 최고의 자리에서 최고 열심히 하는 배우로 거듭났다. 뿐만 아니라 가수로써의 활동도 쉬지 않고 꾸준히 작업해 친구, 포에버 등의 히트곡 외에도 얼마 전 ‘새삼스럽게’ 싱글 새 앨범을 발표해 대중의 사랑을 한 몸에 받고 있다.

국내외를 오가며 정기적 공연으로 힘들 법도 하지만, 평생토록 배우로 살다 죽고 싶다고 말하는 그의 20년 연기 인생. 지난해 인생의 시계가 잠시 멈췄다가 다시 가게 된 이유로 삶이 더 절실해졌다는 그의 솔직 담백한 고백과 숨겨진 과거의 이력들을 ‘The Innerview’에서 확인할 수 있다.

who led the first wave of the K-drama craze  

Ahn Jae-wook, one of the first Korean wave stars, has returned to stage to play the hero of the musical, "Rudolf." After debuting as a TV actor in 1994, he gradually gained fame through a number of dramas including "Traveler of Heaven (1994)," "Couple (1994)," "Hotel (1995)," "War and Love (1995)," "Their Embrace (1996)," and "Salted Mackerel (1996)." Then, his popularity skyrocketed with the 1997 drama "Star in My Heart" taking the entire nation by storm! The hit drama was even exported to China, where it gained an explosive response, and this Is Ahn Jae-wook began to be called a Hallyu or Korean wave star.

After focusing mainly on small-screen productions, he returned as a stage actor through the 2009 musical "Jack the Ripper." Although he had been away from theater for around 10 years, he showed that he hasn't lost his touch and earned accolades for his performance. That's not all! He has had a successful singing career as well. He recently released a new single, which hopefully will climb up the charts as high as his previous songs "Forever" and "Friend" did!

\Last year, Ahn Jae-wook suffered a serious health condition that nearly ended his life, but he's back stronger than ever, determined to live life to the fullest and keep following his passion, which is, of course, acting and singing.
